Photo Retouching
Video Example of a before and after retouched image
Retouching is truly an art, and takes a skilled person in Photoshop to create professional quality images. How much time I spent on retouching details depended on the purpose and final size of the image. I was responsible for retouching photographs of models and clothing for commercial use. The following techniques are apart of my retouch checklist but not limited to:
Edit overall skin tone
Repair blotchy skin
Smooth skin texture (High pass)
Remove blemishes
Reduce wrinkles
Reduce dark circles under eyes
Sculpt face (Dodge & burn)
Brighten the whites of the eyes
Sharpen eyes
Brighten and enhance iris
Brighten teeth
Enhance size of lips
Enhance and cleanup lip color
Remove stray hairs
Fill gaps in hair
Slim subject/reduce bulging
Smooth and straighten clothing
Change color of clothing
Raw Image - My assignment was to retouch model and reduce wrinkles in athletic apparel.
Final Image - I edited in Camera Raw and then further edited in Photoshop. In Photoshop, I recreated the sleeves in the jacket to make design more apparent as requested by my art director.
